For the first time in Jakarta, GEPI (Global Entrepreneurship Program Indonesia) – a US State Department Initiative to foster entrepreneurship as a key pillar for economic development in developing countries – is connecting stakeholders in Jakarta’s startup community through its new startup community incubator initiative.

The plan to set up an incubator has been on GEPI’s Executive Director, Mark Wang’s agenda since last year. With the support of Ciputra, GEPI will finally be launching its incubator in the fourth quarter of this year.

Key players which have partnered with GEPI to make the incubator a central hub for the startup community include Universitas Ciputra Entrepreneurship Center, Founder Institute, Mobile Monday, Daily Social, Startup Lokal, Tech in Asia, Berita Satu, Grupara, Ideosource, Merah Putih, East Ventures, and Mountain Sea Ventures. GEPI continues to expand its Partners who are committed and dedicated in working together to develop a supportive environment for Indonesian entrepreneurs.

In anticipation of the incubator launch, GEPI and its Partners are running an online contest to allow the entire entrepreneurial stack to shape its incubator. The contest invites everyone in the startup community to give the incubator a name. The contest runs Mon, July 29th for two weeks where GEPI and its Partners will then choose the top five names. The top five will be announced on Mon, Aug 19th where the startup community will then vote for the best name. Pad 28, a restaurant in SCBD, will provide a complimentary dinner for two to the person with the best name.
